Fashion in Berlin: tradeshow majors get set to go

Next Tuesday, the major tradeshow players of Berlin fashion week will open their doors in unison, as part of the last fashion season to be organised by Mercedes-Benz. Tradeshows Premium, Seek, Bright, Panorama and Show & Order, as well as the Ethical Fashion Show at Funkhaus and the Selvedge Run -- key events known to Berlin fashion week -- will all present a mass array of brands and collections, from July 4 to 6. As a result, buyers will be able peruse around 3,000 brands and even more collections across the board.

The showcase will be comprised of men's and womenswear, and childrenswear with the Cookies Show, as part of the Show & Order tradeshow, as well as the debut edition of Playtime in Berlin, which will take place for two days only, July 5 and 6, at the Palazzo Italia, located on the Unter den Linden avenue.

The entire week's program is the most extensive it has ever been. Panorama has additional sections; the Nova Concept, a space dedicated to urban fashion, made up of denim industry players, as well as the brands from Danish group Bestseller and the P4 Superstore.

Premium Group has also enlarged its offering with a conference dedicated to technology in fashion, a Gianni Versace exhibition, as well as a 15-silhouette collaboration with Refinery29, and the "Young Designers Award" prize, awarded to a new designer in the industry.

Moreover, Panorama Berlin will celebrate its sixth edition. Since its debut season in January 2013, the Berliner tradeshow has solidly anchored itself as one of the major tradeshows to sail the fashion seas. More than 700 exhibitors, across 45,000 square metres of space, will present collections for spring-summer 2018. Around 100 exhibitors will show their collections for the first time at Panorama Berlin too, where organisers expect a little over 50,000 visitors to attend this season, hailing from 96 different countries.

Premium Group, with its fair set to take place in the central Gleisdreieck, is expecting around 60,000 visitors, with 1,400 collections to be displayed over 23,000 square metres of show space. Some of the big name brands to show in the Advanced Contemporary Fashion and Upper Casual zones include Love Moschino, Aigner, Scotch & Soda, Antony Morato, Oakwood, Birkenstock, Diesel, Drykorn, American Vintage, Roberto Collina, UGG and Samsoe & Samsoe.

Major brands selected by the Seek tradeshow -- more urban, street and deconstructed offerings -- include Adidas Originals, Eastpak, Puma Select, Burlington, Sandqvist and Fred Perry.

The Bright tradeshow has chosen to highlight Vans, Thrasher, RVCA, Obey, HUF and Levis Skateboarding. Show & Order, which will take place Kraftwerk Berlin, will present Miss June, Anaki Paris, Mila & James, Henry Christ, Iwanna, An Hour and a Shower, Gladz and Via la Difference. The Cookies Show event will take place at the same location and has decided to focus on both footwear and lifestyle brands for children.
